Rabbit’s breed: Choosing the right breed

Picking up the right breed is simple. And if you're an avid breeder who wants to be a seller of in-demand breed, then you should be careful in picking up the right breed. There lots of breed to choose from, they vary from size, shape, color, fur, ears and shininess.

The first step is to decide what type of rabbit to raise. Ask yourself; are you planning to sell offspring of pure bred or you just want to show them at some point or you’re planning to sell kits, meat and fur? Remember that it will be easier to find a buyer for the offspring if they have pedigree. One of the best ways to help you out from choosing the breed is to seek helpful information from reputable rabbit breeders and you can also “google it” through internet. In this way you’ll learned and decide which breed is the best to choose.

I raise my rabbits for various purposes. Those with good breed are designate to sell to pet stores around our region and those medium sized were butchered for meat and fur.

I have 11 special rabbits that I considered as my valuable pet. They are not that type with a good breed, but they're best in terms of behavior. Most of them are New Zealand white the one with red eyes (albino). I also have a couple of in-demand breed like the Netherlands dwarf that I really adore. I have lots of medium size than small and giant breed, because for a long period of breeding them I believed that small and medium sizes were more productive than oversize. Check out below the different breed of rabbit according to their variations.

Again, remember that it’s quite easy to sell your rabbits if they have pedigree. Choose medium size if you plan to sell meat and fur.

Before buying your rabbits, find a trusted breeder, because some of them will try to fool and give you wrong information. First thing you should remember is to buy only those young rabbits, raised and wait for them to be matured for breeding and you’ll find it worth lately. Whether you will pick any breed remember to choose only those healthy; active, with soft clean fur, and no indications of any allergy.
