Coccidiosis

One of the common diseases of rabbits, it’s an intestinal infestation of coccidia. Coccidia classified as microscopic parasites in animals and because of that it is very difficult to exterminate once it has infected the animal.

Symptoms
In mild cases no symptoms may be observed. Symptoms in both moderate and severe cases include a diarrhea, loss of appetite, and loss of weight.

Treatment
The best treatment is to use sulfaquinoxyline in the feed or drinking water a .25% level of sulfaquinoxaline, sulfadimethoxine, or triple sulfa (may be effective but provide greater safety from the toxic effects ) for three weeks.

Prevention
Great sanitation routine and build cages with wire floored that let waste fall through the floor. Keep the feed and water always clean and fresh.
